Our next Weekend Film Series on Sunday, June 19 features two contrasting and critically-acclaimed films.

Jeremy Irons and Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) star in The Man Who Knew Infinity (3 p.m.), the improbable true story of a friendship between Srinivasa Ramanujan , a self-taught Indian mathematics genius, and a brilliant and eccentric Cambridge University professor, G.H. Hardy who fought to get Ramanujan the recognition and respect his unconventional theorems deserved.

Michele Hozer’s compelling documentary Sugar Coated (5.15 p.m.) investigates how the sugar industry is once again trying to convince sceptical consumers that sugar is not a toxic ingredient responsible for rapidly rising obesity, diabetes and heart disease rates. Winner of Best Social/Political Documentary at the Canadian Screen Awards.

Both films will screen in the Tradewinds Auditorium of the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.

You can purchase Weekend Film Series tickets ($15) by calling 294-0204, or by visiting the Oceans Gift Shop at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.
