The tragic 2012 shooting of Jordan Davis, an unarmed teenaged African-American by a white man, Michael Dunn, is the subject of 3½ Minutes, Ten Bullets, a riveting documentary by Marc Silver that will be screened at our next Weekend Film Series on Sunday, March 20 (5.15 p.m.)
The film, winner of the Special Jury Award for Social Impact at the Sundance Film Festival, explores the dangers and subjectivity of Florida’s ‘stand your ground’ self-defence laws as it tells an intimate story of unnecessary loss in the face of insidious racism.
Film fans will also get another chance to see Charlotte Rampling’s Oscar-nominated performance in 45 Years, Andrew Haigh’s British drama, which also starred Tom Courtenay. We are re-showing the film at 3 p.m. due to popular demand following last month’s sold out screening.
Both films will screen in the Tradewinds Auditorium of the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.
