We’re screening two award-winning films at our next Weekend Film Series on Sunday, October 11, sponsored by Gosling’s.
Meru, which won the Documentary Audience Award at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, follows climbers Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin and Renan Ozturk as they attempt to scale the formidable Shark’s Fin on Mount Meru, 21,000 feet above the sacred Ganges River in Northern India. Anker’s team were just 100 metres short of reaching the top of one of the world’s most difficult mountains in 2008. Can they reach their goal in this second attempt?
French heartthrob Romain Duris stars in the comedy The New Girlfriend, which won Best Film at the San Sebastian Film Festival for its entertaining mix of melodrama, mischievous humour and suspense as it explores sexual and gender identity. Duris splays David, who is mourning the death of his wife, Laura, and attracts the interest of her best friend after she finds him dressed in his late wife’s clothes while looking after his newborn child.
Both films will screen in the Tradewinds Auditorium of the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.
