Amy – in her own words

amy-movie-001_KK6N2623_rgb AMY, the highly acclaimed documentary about the late singer Amy Winehouse, will be part of an exciting line up for our Weekend Film Series on Sunday, September 20, sponsored by Gosling’s. Also screening will be Mr. Holmes featuring Sir Ian McKellen in a new twist on the world’s most famous fictional detective.

From BAFTA award-winning director Asif Kapadia (SENNA), AMY (5:15 p.m.) tells the incredible story of six-time Grammy-winner Amy Winehouse – in her own words. Featuring extensive unseen archive footage and previously unheard tracks, this strikingly modern, moving and vital film shines a light on the world we live in, in a way that very few can.

Mr. Holmes (3:00 p.m.) is set in 1947 and an aging Sherlock Holmes faces the end of his days tending to his bees, with only the company of his housekeeper (fellow Academy Award® nominee Laura Linney) and her young son, Roger (Milo Parker). Grappling with the diminishing powers of his mind, Holmes comes to rely on the boy as he revisits the circumstances of the unsolved case that forced him into retirement, and searches for answers to the mysteries of life and love – before it’s too late.

Both films will screen in the Tradewinds Auditorium of the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.

You can purchase Weekend Film Series tickets ($15) by calling 294-0204, or by visiting the Oceans Gift Shop at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.
