Two superb documentaries are on screen for our next Weekend Film Series on Sunday, August 16, sponsored by Gosling’s.
Filmmaker and investigative journalist Anthony Baxter is on the trail of Donald Trump again in A Dangerous Game (3 p.m.), an explosive and funny sequel to his 2011 film, You’ve Been Trumped. In that film, concerned citizens opposed Trump’s plans to build a ritzy golf course on ecologically-sensitive sand dunes in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Baxter brings the Trump saga up to date and widens the scope of his investigation to include public protests against similarly controversial golf resorts around the globe.
The Wolfpack (5.15 p.m.) tells the story of the six Angulo brothers who have spent their entire lives locked away from society in a Manhattan apartment. Nicknamed “The Wolfpack,” they’re bright, homeschooled, have no acquaintances outside their family and have practically never left their home. Their knowledge of the outside world is gleaned from the movies they watch obsessively and recreate meticulously. But when one of the brothers escapes, the power dynamics in the house are transformed, and the boys begin to dream of venturing out. Crystal Moselle’s extraordinary film won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
Both films will screen in the Tradewinds Auditorium of the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.
