Our next Weekend Film Series will feature two of this year’s major award-winning films. Alive Inside and Boyhood will screen at the November 16 event, sponsored by Gosling’s, at the Tradewinds Auditorium at the Bermuda Underwater Institute.
Alive Inside (3 p.m.) won the Documentary Audience Award at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. The film follows social worker Dan Cohen, founder of the non-profit organisation Music & Memory as he fights against a broken health care system to demonstrate music’s ability to combat memory loss. Special guest Elizabeth Stewart, President of Action on Alzheimer’s and Dementia, will take part in a Q and A session after the film.
Richard Linklater’s critically-acclaimed film Boyhood (5.15 p.m.) was shot over a period of 12 years with the same cast as it tells the groundbreaking story of growing up as seen through the eyes of a child named Mason (a breakthrough performance by Ellar Coltrane), who literally grows up on screen before our eyes. Boyhood has won of 10 international film festival awards.
