US President Barack Obama – or at least his lookalike – is one of the stars of our next Weekend Film Series, on Sunday, September 21.
Bronx Obama (3 p.m.) tells the strange and improbable story of Louis Ortiz, an Obama impersonator. Filmmaker Ryan Murdock captures unexpectedly hilarious moments along this Twilight-Zone-esque campaign trail while delving deep into the question of what it means to be someone you’re not.
In our second film, at 5.15 p.m., British comedians Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon star in their witty follow-up to their 2010 film, The Trip, in which they embarked on a restaurant tour around northern England. In The Trip To Italy, the pair are reunited for a new culinary road trip, retracing the steps of the Romantic poets’ grand tour of Italy and indulging in some sparkling banter and impersonations along the way.
The Weekend Film Series, sponsored by Gosling’s, screens Sunday, September 21 at the Tradewinds Auditorium of the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute. Tickets available now from the Oceans Gift Shop at the BUEI or by calling 294-0204.
