Hoffman’s final flourish

A Most Wanted Man

The last film completed by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman will feature in our next Weekend Film Series, on Sunday, August 17.

Based on John le Carré’s novel, A Most Wanted Man, Hoffman stars as as the head of a covert German spy unit in Hamburg where the arrival of a half-Chechen, half-Russian, brutally tortured immigrant in the city’s Islamic community arouses suspicions. The film, directed by Anton Corbijn, screens at 5.15 p.m.

In our other film, The Galapagos Affair: Satan Came To Eden (3 p.m.), Darwin meets Hitchcock in this true-crime tale of paradise found and lost. The Galapagos Affair: Satan Came To Eden is a fascinating documentary portrait of a 1930s murder mystery

The Weekend Film Series, sponsored by Gosling’s,  screens Sunday, August 17 at the Tradewinds Auditorium of the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute. Tickets available now from the Oceans Gift Shop at the BUEI or by calling 294-0204.
