Our Weekend Film Series, sponsored by Gosling’s, returns on Sunday, November 17 with two powerful and inspiring films.
Herman’s House, winner of the Best Documentary at the Harlem International Film Festival, tells the story of Herman Wallace, who lived in solitary confinement at the Louisiana State Penitentiary for 41 years before being freed by a federal judge on the grounds that his indictment for murder was unconstitutional. During his confinement he collaborated with an artist on a remarkable and unlikely art installation.
Desert Runners tells the story of four amateur athletes competing in the grueling Four Deserts Ultra Marathon Series. The film, winner of Audience Awards at the Vancouver and Hamptons film festivals, follows them across some of the world’s most extreme and inhospitable terrain – the Atacama Desert in Chile, the Gobi Desert in China, the Sahara Desert in Egypt, and the Antarctic – in their bid to complete each of the 250-kilometre races.
The films will be screened at the Tradewinds Auditorium at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute. Tickets available now from the Oceans Gift Shop at the BUEI or by calling 294-0204.
