A remarkable sporting story from Rwanda and a feature based on the life of legendary British nude revue producer Paul Raymond make for a contrasting lineup for our Weekend Film Series on August 18.
Rising From Ashes (3 p.m.) is an inspiring film about redemption, hope and second chances in post-genocide Rwanda. American cycling legend Jock Boyer sets out to train the national cycling squad – many of whom lost family members in the 1994 genocide – against impossible odds to qualify for the London Olympics.
Steve Coogan (24 Hour Party People, The Trip) stars in The Look Of Love (5.15 p.m.) the true-life story of Paul Raymond, the man behind Soho’s notorious Raymond Revue Bar and Men Only magazine and who, by 1992, was declared Britain’s richest man by the Sunday Times.
The Weekend Film Series, sponsored by Gosling’s, screens at the Tradewinds Auditorium at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute. Tickets available now from the Oceans Gift Shop at the BUEI or by calling 294-0204.
