From Kenya to Mississippi

An inspirational humanitarian project in Kenya and a drama set in Mississippi feature in our next Weekend Film Series on July 21.

Building Hope (3 p.m.)  tells the story of the construction of Mahiga Hope High School, the first-ever high school in this rural Kenyan community, with the help of a global non-profit organisation. Proceeds from the fee paid to screen the film in Bermuda benefit the Kenya Schools Fund, building classrooms, libraries, computer labs and water systems at rural Kenyan schools.

Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon star in the emotionally engaging coming-of-age drama Mud (5.15 p.m.), an adventure about two boys, Ellis and his friend Neckbone, who find a man named Mud (McConaughey) hiding out on an island in the Mississippi.

The  Weekend Film Series, sponsored by Gosling’s, screens at the Tradewinds Auditorium at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute. Tickets are available now from the Oceans Gift Shop at the BUEI or by calling 294-0204.
