The Interrupters, an award-winning documentary that profiles one year in the life of three ‘violence interrupters’ at crime prevention programme CeaseFire Chicago, is to screen on Saturday, November 5 at 6 p.m. in the Tradewinds Auditorium of the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.
The first screening of the film, last Friday at Bermuda Docs, was sold out. Tickets to The Interrupters, $15, are on sale now from the Oceans Gift Shop at the BUEI, or by calling 297-7314.
CeaseFire employs ex-gang members to protect communities against the violence they once employed. CeaseFire believes that the spread of violence mimics the spread of infectious diseases, and so the treatment should be similar: go after the most infected, and stop the infection at its source.
